Gumball 2010: Day 2
Published May 2, 2010 in Gumball 2010, Gumball 3000

The gumballers left Amsterdam this morning on coaches for the long journey to Denmark. Why no cars we hear you ask! It all stems from a German court decision a couple of days back when judges refused to grant make Gumball 3000 a legally racognised rally. As a result, no Gumballers are allowed on German roads. This forced Gumball HQ to load all the cars onto transporters after last nights party and attempt to get them through on the back of the lorries.
Only in the past hours have Gumballers started to get their cars back and head for the second overnight stop at the Tivoli museum in Copenhagen. Latest updates from our guys who made it through to Copenhagen early this morning suggest that only 4 of the 15 trucks have made it through Germany after being held up once more by the German authorities.
As far as the drive to Amsterdam went we recieved word that there was very little police involvement with only one or two cars getting pulled over. One casualty came in the form of the PPI Razor GTR, however, that was quickly sorted and a replacement Lamborghini Gallardo was sourced for the guys to continue. They’re now at the hotel in Copenhagen after getting through Germany without any problems (thanks to a lack of stickers!).
Again, keep an eye out on Gumball-3000 twitter and facebook pages, thanks to Max for the regular updates on his twitter page too!

in fact, there are several rallys every year in germany, some get even broadcasted in tv. but the judges categorized Gumball as a “streetrace”, wich are ofc strictly forbidden. the funny thing is, that yesterday wasn’t the first day, the gumball-rally went through the country and in the past, there has never been a serious incident. no, this is just about all the typically jealous germans, who just can’t
delight in sb./sth. media coverage about the gumball-rally has been allways very negative in germany. they just don’t get it, what gumball is all about.
on behalf of all the german gumball fans, i’d like to apologize for the german stage of this year’s tour and i wish you all furthermore a great ride!
